Extended File Admininistration

Path in CC5: Files

This description refers to one of our optional modules/extensions containing specific functionality to make Complete Control even more complete. Your single point of contact at House of Control AS can tell you more about all our optional modules and extensions.

The optional module Extended File Admininistration can be used to a greater degree as a common document and file sharing area, and it has a greater capability to be controlled by access control, compared to the standard file configuration. The module contains two directories: Shared files - a rather public folder for shared content - and My files - a private folder.

Shared files

The "Shared Files" folder is a common file area for storing documents that are not necessarily linked to a contract, asset or person in the system. The folder structure can be configured to reflect a shared area on a server in the enterprise.

Access control

Folders created under "Shared Files" are listed in the access control under Access control for user groups, with an option to set the read, update, create, and delete permissions for each individual folder and their contents.

Note!
You can assign access to directories under Document Center via Access Control. But note that access can only be granted to the first level below Shared Files. Any existing sub-directories below this first level will automatically inherit the access control settings from its parent.

My files

Shared files give all system users with access to files also their own "private" area: "My Files".

More functionality related to other optional modules

Files in these directories can be edited in the usual way (downloaded, deleted, renamed, etc.). But with certain optional modules you have access to more functionality:
